Graduation

June 21 to 27, 2026

This week started with Father’s Day, contained two afternoons and evenings of graduation events, a day of heightened energy and chicken coop building, followed by a few days of rest.  I had many emotional ups and downs this week and resulting energy shifts as well.  Big feelings at the start of the week had me investigating the source, releasing an old identity, and shifting into a happier and healthier me, which was likely needed in order to survive the rest of the week.  Being in a busy city and crowded environments for two days in a row, even though they were celebratory and positive, still had a big impact on my nervous system and I think I’ve finally balanced out my energy.

This week was a turning point for me in so many ways.  Two years ago, when my daughter graduated high school, I quit my 9 to 5 office job, knowing I needed to find something that was more aligned with who I wanted to become.  I took two years to fold myself into my cocoon and transform.  With my son graduating this week, I knew this was an end to that cocoon phase and that I’m finally ready to emerge and become the person I want to be.  I also reflected on how different it felt to see my daughter graduate than it did my son.  Yes, every kid is different and the first is always the hardest to navigate as it is always new territory.  But I was so much different this time around.  My nervous system wasn’t living in a fast-paced world of survival with so many things demanding my attention and input.  I felt more like a calm observer than a participant and that was ok.  Two years feels like a long time to some to retreat from society and reprogram yourself, but I don’t think I could have done it any faster.

This week also marked a 6-month anniversary of sobriety.  My last drink was enjoyed on boxing day and despite me wanting to slow down and be more conscious about my habit, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I no longer felt the urge to drink as I previously had after I released a toxic friendship.  This was a huge lesson for me and something I’d never anticipated as an outcome.  It was an example of embodiment that I needed to experience in order to understand the power of hypnosis along with personal growth commitment.  I’d undergone a hypnosis session while in school to address the drinking.  It wasn’t something I was willing to give up on the spot but wanted to replace with healthier habits like drinking more water and exercising, both things I’ve been consistent with.  That session had subtle effects on me and when combined with commitment to my personal growth and consistent steps forward, resulted in a huge positive change in my life months later.  I’m not against drinking and there may be times in the future when I have a glass or two, but it will be on my own terms, done consciously, and not a response to stress, fear, anxiety, or any other way in which it is being used as a coping mechanism.

The messages I received this week include temperance, 10, finger touch, hanging lanterns/Chinese lanterns, things going missing, grenade, 1929, anchor, left turn, and amber.

Temperance – This came up in many readings on Facebook this week and was pretty much the only place I recall seeing it.  I’m a little familiar with the tarot deck, but I have never fully embraced it and have been drawn to certain cards over others.  This one is not one I’ve seen a lot, so perhaps that’s why it is standing out.  I am guessing that the meaning is to have a sense of restraint and balance in emotions.  When looking up the meaning, I found that the card represents balance, patience and moderation, so that fits with my intuition.  I feel like I have developed temperance in my life so far, slowly and consistently working on my personal growth and building my business, so I suppose the message is to continue in this fashion.

10 – The number 10 came in up a number of card pulls as well.  In my money manifestations, I asked for the dollars I spent to be returned to me tenfold.  10 out of 10 came up in a card pull message. Another card pull message had the saying “10-4” as an affirmation from spirit.  This message could mean anything really.  It could mean blessings coming in 10 days, 10 months, at the 10th hour, or the 10th client.  Who knows?

Finger touch – This message showed up in two different shows in silly ways.  The universally recognized painting by Michaelangelo of a human finger touching the finger of God was presented in a show in which a detective was undercover investigating a cult.  He was being held in a building and had been given a substance that altered his perception of reality.  When his friend and colleague came to rescue him, she reached down a hand for him to grab, but instead of grabbing it, he connected his finger to hers.  The other show was a cartoon explaining how the reproductive act occurs in a species through an educational video.  As the video started, there was an image of two fingers touching, as this was all that was needed to produce offspring when a male of the species was in love.  I am guessing that this meaning is having a connection to the divine since the painting does represent the creation of Adam in the bible.

Hanging lanterns/Chinese lanterns – This message showed up in a card pull on Facebook in which the reader mentioned that hanging lanterns might be significant.  It also appeared in a video about the current disclosure movement that is occurring in the US.  As the government is slowly revealing that investigations into UFOs/UAPs is and has been occurring for years, there have been many ways in which they’ve tried to debunk or discredit people who have experienced sightings, stating that they saw weather balloons, swamp lights, or Chinese lanterns.  I think this message could be about being a beacon of light for others and shining so that they can see you.

Things going missing – This message first appeared in a podcast that was discussing how things can go missing in houses that are haunted.  As I was listening to this episode, my mom called to ask if she’d left some important items in my vehicle and was in a bit of a panic.  After I’d looked for them and called her back to tell her that they weren’t here, I received the good new that she had found them.  The message also appeared in a real life experience when my daughter misplaced her apartment keys and accidentally locked her boyfriend out of their place.  Fortunately, it was a nice evening, and they were able to find someone to let them in.  I am fairly good at keeping track of my own things because I make sure that I put important things back where they belong every time I use them.  Of course, I’m human and I make mistakes, so I do misplace things from time to time.  I’m not sure about this message, but maybe it has something to do with things from the past being put away and forgotten about resurfacing now.

Grenade – In one of the graduation speeches this week, a student was reminiscing about a grade 9 social studies show and tell where a student brought a WWII grenade to talk about.  The message also showed up in a song on the radio.  I know grenades are dangerous and explosive, so perhaps this message is about something blowing up.  I suppose it could be interpreted in a good way, as in when something blows up on social media and it becomes popular.

1929 – This message came up in a graduation speech noting that was the first year the school my kids attended opened.  It appeared in a book I was reading as a significant year that was important to the plot.  I don’t know much about the 1920s, but I believe that 1929 was the year that the stock market crashed and led to the dirty thirties.  Many of the messages I’ve been tuning into about this year and the coming shifts we will experience in major system changes might have something to do with this message.  Maybe it is pointing to a similar type of monetary crash.

Anchor – This message showed up as a symbol for the host of a free online manifestation event.  It also appeared in a card reading.  Anchoring in hypnosis is using an object, action, word, colour, or anything else significant to recall a feeling experienced under hypnosis in daily life.  For example, if you experience a feeling of unconditional love within your body and mind during hypnosis, you can anchor that in by placing a hand to your heart.  Then, during your daily life, you can recreate that sensation with the action without having to go back into hypnosis.  I’m guessing this message is about anchoring myself firmly in my role as a hypnotherapist and staying grounded as the world around me changes.

Left turn – The message came through in a text from a friend.  It also showed up in a book I finally started reading after it sat on my shelf for six months. I knew a woman who was afraid of making left turns and would plan her routes to her destinations based on right turns only.  I think the message here is that a left turn might be an unexpected turn of events in your life, but that something unexpected doesn’t necessarily mean bad.  Sometimes things that happen to us that we weren’t expecting can lead to the best outcomes.

Amber – This message showed up in a song while my partner and I were building our chicken coop.  I know it came up again, but I can’t recall if it was in relation to the colour of the solar plexus chakra, or a gemstone that would amplify that energy.  Regardless of how or where it revealed itself as a message, the point is, I recognized it as one.  When I think of amber, I think of Jurassic Park and the mosquito preserved in amber.  There is also the infamous Amber Room in Russia that was stolen during WWII.  If I had to guess, the message here might be about preserving something of value in order to share it with others.

During hypnosis this week, the answers seemed to come more quickly and clearly than before, so I feel that the more I do this, the better I get.  Temperance means balance and keeping my cool, staying grounded, knowing that I can hold whatever I need to without losing myself.  Ten came through as a congratulatory high five energy that was doubled, a great feeling of celebration and elation.  Finger touch was a knowing that I’ve got this, and connection to higher realms and the support that comes from there.  Hanging lanterns/Chinese lanterns were floating lights, like constellations of people waiting for me to find them so that we can connect and help each other.  Things going missing provided a blank, telling me that there are things hidden that I still cannot see.  Grenade represented an explosion of ideas, all good and exciting inspirations, nothing bad.  1929 had a message of crash, of devastation, but knowing that from hardship comes resiliency, efficiencies, and better ways of doing things, as well as people coming together to help each other. Anchor was the knowing that I need to be steady and calm and secure in who I am and what I believe in.  Left turn means a detour, knowing that sometimes the usual path isn’t the only way to get to our destination.  And amber meant solidifying it all together, encapsulating all of the learning and messages into one solid state that is protected.

I know these answers might still seem abstract to an outsider seeking clarity in the form of definite step by step instructions, but I’ve found that the universe and my own subconscious don’t work that way.  I am someone who likes puzzles and layers of meaning and that’s typically how I receive information, so I’ve learned to trust that these meanings will make more sense given time and experience.  For me, these answers are enough.

I've been fascinated with the weather lately and the vastness of the sky, so I've been doing a lot of cloud gazing when I can. Last week as my partner and I were soaking up some sun around lunchtime, I looked up and noticed the half halo around it and needed to capture that. It was a good reminder to look up and enjoy what's going on around us instead of constantly looking down at our phones and being unaware of the beauty of nature that we always have access to.
