Balancing Energy and Protection

January 11 to 17, 2026

Well, I finally feel like I’m getting some clarity and motivation on how I’d like my business to feel and where I’d like it to go.  I think I needed a lot of things to happen before I was truly ready to step into my new role.  One of the most interesting, difficult, and confusing things I needed to do was to trust the timing.  I know I’ve talked about this before and I received a message of “6 months” not knowing exactly what it meant, but I truly believe the universe works with you to make sure all the important kinks are worked out before the time is right.  And if you have the courage and patience to listen and follow it, then you’re already ahead of the others trying to hustle and push. 

This clarity came after a day of chaos in calm followed by a day of calm in chaos.  The weather caused an unplanned snow day with highways shut down, causing interrupted plans, unexpected energy in my space, emotions of others being thrown around, and a desperate need to calm my nervous system.  The following day was one where I immersed myself in noise, chaos, and busyness without any of my usual protection and came out flying high.  It was quite strange, but very positive.  I think it was a learning experience about flexibility, mindset, and boundaries. 

I know that the universe speaks to me for a reason.  The messages I get aren’t random and nonsensical, although they can feel that way before deeper contemplation.  Every situation, person, conversation, and event is put in front of me with purpose.  Things that seem random or unconnected actually have meaning behind them.  I don’t always see these things and I don’t always understand them and that’s ok, but I know they are there to guide me.  The more I pay attention, the more interesting and fun life gets.  It is difficult to explain all the layers of complexity, but when a message is crystal clear, it is undeniable.  This is something I think I’d like to help others see and experience for themselves, but I’m not yet sure how.  I’m excited to explore it and I know the universe will guide me, even if I don’t know where that journey will take me or how I’ll get there.  I just have to trust.

This week’s messages are: Orlando, soul mate, home alone, Greece/grease, side boob, heart attack, Mandy Patinkin, shake weight.  One recurring theme that showed up was life force.

Orlando – All of these messages came through in one evening while watching the Golden Globes.  Orlando Bloom was a presenter, Seth Rogan thanked several of his crew and specifically a craft services guy named Orlando, and then during commercial I was scrolling through Facebook and Tig Notaro’s reel about her upcoming tour dates listed out Orlando as a city she was visiting.  Because I was paying attention and it all happened within a few hours, I really felt this message.  The professional associations that I belong to host an annual conference each year in May and I had a feeling that this year’s was being hosted in Orlando, Florida.  When I checked, it turned out to be the case.  So, I’m going to guess that this is where this message is pointing me.  I am currently renewing my passport, and have no plans of attending this conference as of yet, but who knows where the universe will take me.

Soul mate – This message kept coming up in card readings, both ones I was doing for myself and ones that I was watching on Facebook.  I also received this message in an email.  I know most people think of soul mates as romantic partners because that’s what we’ve been taught, but I believe this message could be about a potential business partner or like-minded soul who I’ve shared past lives with.  Who knows?  I’m starting my Spiritual Hypnosis course at the end of the month.  Maybe this is a message about a new soul friend coming into my life through this course.  If not, I believe it could have something to do with my partner.  We are more aligned this year and committed to our health and future.  So, it could just be a nod to keep doing what we are doing.

Home alone – This message showed up in a joke on a podcast, an 80’s t-shirt worn by a more recently celebrated director, and with McCauley Culkin as a presenter at the Golden Globes.  I have watched the iconic 80’s movie and enjoyed it as a kid.  I don’t think this message is about the movie as much as it is about me regularly being at home alone.  This is how I like it for the most part.  I have made my home a sanctuary and a peaceful, safe place.  I enjoy spending time with my animals, with nature, and on my own.  I am building my business from home and this is a conscious decision to save money, time, and my nervous system.  I’m not quite sure where this message is directing me or what to read into it, so I’m going to let it simmer a bit. 

Greece/grease – The message of Greece came through in a radio announcer’s conversation about an upcoming trip, followed by my screen saver showing me a beautiful picture of Santorini.  There was also a conversation about a machine being greased to fix a problem after being told the solution was something completely different.  Because this came through two different ways, I’m not sure if the meaning is the place Greece or to grease something, or perhaps both! 

Side boob – This message came up in conversation with a friend and also as a name for a cologne in a sitcom.  This one feels silly to me and not as straight forward.  I guess when I think of side boob, it is usually a reference to a woman revealing a part of herself that is otherwise hidden.  Maybe it is about being vulnerable and revealing truths that are not usually shared.  I guess this could be what I’m doing in my blog, so there could be a connection there.

Heart attack – This message came through in a message from friends, an article in a hypnotherapy magazine, and a character who passed away from anger in a tv show.  I don’t particularly think this message is directed at me, but I could be wrong.  More of the messaging around this is about unaddressed anger or avoidance of emotions resulting in heart attack.  Unfortunately, most of the victims of this are men and they are typically the ones who avoid emotional processing.  So that’s where I think this message is directed, at the men in my life.

Mandy Patinkin – This one throws me a bit because I don’t have any particular affinity for this actor.  I know he’s been in a lot of shows and movies, but I recall seeing him more in the 80’s and 90’s.  What are the chances I’d be drawn to watch two different dark humour shows made many years apart that he’s in within the same week?  Additionally, I just looked up to see what I would know him from, and The Princess Bride popped up.  I also had an urge to rewatch this movie recently, but have not followed through with that yet.  Maybe it is the similarities between the shows.  One is a murder mystery in which he plays a detective, one is a show about death where he plays a grim reaper character, and in The Princess Bride, he plays Inigo Montoya who is trying to avenge his father’s death.  So, maybe the theme here is death rather than him in particular, or maybe his association with death?  Again, I’m going to have to ponder this for a bit.

Shake weight – This message came up as a joke in conversation and also on a tv show where a new young couple were supposed to be doing adult things got distracted by unnecessary products.  The shake weight became a global joke and still comes up now and then.  I know people who have bought one just to use as a party gag, so it is inexplicably linked with humour.  However, I think this message might have more to do with losing weight than with the product itself.  Again, when a message is silly and seems to have no deeper context is when I’m forced to dig. 

Ok, so now that I’m diving a bit deeper into some of these silly messages, maybe I’m getting a better idea of the connection between them all.  Don’t go to Orlando to the hypnotherapy conference because my soul mate (current partner) will have to stay home alone (after having surgery and being immobile).  He may be more likely to have a heart attack if he doesn’t lose weight or stop eating greasy foods, which could result in death (Mandy Patinkin shows).  What does side boob have to do with it?  Well, maybe sitting at home on his own, he has deeper parts of himself revealed that he’s not able to handle emotionally.  Some of the heart attack conversation we had was around a history of heart conditions with fathers and how sons might see themselves ending up in similar situations if they don’t become healthier.  This is a reality for my partner as his father did die of heart complications, but he lived to see 94.  In my opinion, at that age almost anything can lead to the end.  However, if there’s a family history, it is something worth looking into.  And what better way to avenge a father’s death (stop the pattern of heart disease) than with the infamous words of Inigo Montoya, “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya.  You killed my father, prepare to die.”

Since this feels like a bit of an ominous message this week, I think I’ll throw it to AI for a different perspective.

Well, I think my interpretation is definitely more personal and maybe a bit cautionary.  I don’t think it is a fear-based message, simply an indication of something to watch for or be aware of.   We are both focusing on how to make my partner’s surgery as smooth, comfortable, and seamless as possible, but we also know that there will be things we can’t foresee and that there will be many emotions and frustrations that arise. Knowing this and preparing for it will hopefully make things easier to manage.

I do see the connection in the interpretation that AI provided and it is also accurate as to what I can expect heading into launching a business.  So both are valid perspectives and both likely hold a lot of truth in them.  Who’s to say they both aren’t correct?  So many things can exist at the same time, despite what we’ve been taught to think.  The universe is always delivering layers of meaning and there’s likely even more here to unpack that I may never get.  But that’s what makes this so much fun! 

I haven’t created this week.  I had two of my kittens neutered, which meant some great snuggles with them in the house as they recovered.  It also meant chaos and silliness usually at times when we were trying to sleep, but these guys are so ridiculously cute and loveable, there’s no way I could be upset with them.  I didn’t take nearly enough pictures, but that’s because I was too busy enjoying their presence.  They followed me everywhere and it was next to impossible to get any work done as you can see below.  But I love them!  They light up my heart and accept me as their own.  (If you’ve ever had a ginger in your life, you know which one is pure chaos!)
